Abstract

480,927. Moulding kerbstones. RAINFORD POTTERIES, Ltd., and GRUNDY, F. W. May 26, 1937, No. 14658. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group X] A method of making kerbstones consists in extruding a four-sided hollow ceramic body 16, Fig. 3, splitting this body into two substantially L-shaped members after it has been dried, glazed and baked, and then using each L- shaped member as a lining for the part or whole of a pair of sides of a mould box into which concrete is poured. The body 16 may have internal dovetail ribs 7 for keying purposes and may be formed with grooves 8 which facilitate the splitting. As shown in Fig. 1, the upper face 12 of the L-member is formed with grooves 10 to provide a non-slip surface and the vertical face 11 thereof has a groove 12 fitted with a reflector 14. In a modification, the lower part of the face 11 is vertical and the upper part inclined, and in another construction the members are formed from a hollow block of rhomboidal shape.
