Abstract
237,543. Thorpe, J. W., Bowden, J. A., and Taylor, J. Jan. 29,1924. Catches yielding to pull and pressure.-Relates to means for holding a sliding door or window in the open, closed or an intermediate position in which the sliding member is provided with two races subjected by rollers to oppositely directed pressures, one of the races having recesses therein with which one of the rollers is adapted to engage to hold the sliding member in the open, closed or an intermediate position, and consists in mounting the roller which engages with the recessed race on a spring-controlled pivoted lever. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the races D, F are mounted on opposite sides of the door A sliding in the frame B, the roller E, which bears on the plain race F, being carried by a spring-pressed plunger e' mounted in a casing H secured to the frame B. The roller C, adapted to engage with the recessed race D is carried on one end of a lever c' pivoted at c<2> in a casing G secured to the frame B, the other end of the lever c<1> being provided with a roller c<3> which bears on a spring-pressed plunger c<4>.
