Abstract
236,625. Niedmann, F. von. April 7, 1924. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Locks, revolving- barrel; boards for; key-pins; latches, lift. - A revolving barrel lock has bentarm tumblers pivoted transversely to the axis of the barrel at successively greater distances from the front of the lock, and the key is guided by a key-pin. Ward plates are situated between the tumblers and the barrel-follower lifts a pivoted latch. The barrel 5 has a box-like projection 32 in which the tumblers 36, 39 are. pivoted at 37, 40 respectively. The tumblers are pressed outwardly by springs 38, 41 so that their ends engage between the fixed stops 44, 43 on the cover-plate. When the key is inserted and partially turned, cam-faces 60 and 47 thereon respectively raise the lower ends 45, 48 of the tumblers and withdraw the other ends within the barrel. The insertion and turning of the key thus far has brought a feather 61 on the barrel into a slot 62 in the key, via the opening 46, so that continued turning of the key rotates the released barrel to enable the follower 35 to release the locking pin 13, the lower end of which is bevelled for this purpose, and lift the latch 4. The key is guided by the key-pin 30 and a wardplate 49 requires the slot 63 to be cut in the key.
