Locks, revolving-barrel; padlocks.-The shackle of a padlock is locked by a member which is brought into engagement with it on closing the shackle and blocked against release by the periphery of a revolving barrel of the pin tumbler type. Fig. 4 shows the padlock in the open position. When the shackle nose u is pressed home into the aperture g of the casing, it presses down the spring plunger h and engages the abutment s on the locking member E pivoted to the casing A at m, rocking the member until the projection q engages the notch t in the shackle. This frees a projection o at the rear of the locking member from a notch p in the revolving barrel B, which is then turned automatically by a spring v to block the locking member E against release from the shackle. To release the shackle, the kev d is inserted and the barrel turned until the notch p is again opposite the projection o, when the spring plunger h forces out the shackle and also rocks the member E into engagement with the barrel. The barrel may be turned for blocking the locking member by a spring plunger y and spring v.
