235,935. Venner, D. J. V. Dec. 22, 1924. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Induction pipes, fittings for.-An extra air valve comprises a fixed conical plug 4 provided with a row of longitudinally arranged ports 9, and a rotary casing 2 provided with similarly-arranged ports 10, 10<a>. The plug 4 is carried by a hollow stem 5 adjustably secured by a lock nut to a flange 1 secured between flanges on the carburettor and induction pipe. The casing 2 is held to its seat by a nut 8 and' spring 7, the nut having saw cuts or notches 8<a> therein into which the metal of the casing is spread to lock the nut in adjusted position. The casing is provided with a lug 11 connected by an L-shaped link 12 to an arm on the throttle valve, the throttle operating-rod being connected to the bend of the link 12, so that the throttle and air valve are simultaneously operated. The air valve is normally set so that the ports are fully open when the throttle is in mid position, and are closed when the throttle is fully open or is closed. The port 10<a> is elongated so that it comes into action before the throttle reaches mid position.
