Abstract

234,315. Dehn, F. B., (Budd Manufacturing Co., Ltd., E. G.). July 17. 1924. Striking-plates for latches. - Striking- plates for automobile latches are housed in a channel - shaped member forming the whole or part of the door jamb and are provided with screws for adjusting them horizontally when the door is closed or open. The striking- plate 19 has upper and lower lugs 23 and is housed in the channel-shaped strip 15, 16, 17 secured to the body 12. Tapped holes in the lugs 23 house screws 27, one end of each of which abutting on the flange 15 of the housing and each head having a shoulder 29 abutting on the flange 17, of the housing. At right angles to the screws 27 are clamping screws 24 working in elongated slots 26 in the lugs 23. To adjust the striking- plate, the door is opened and the clamping screws 24 loosened. The door is then closed so that the latch engages a curved surface 20 of the striking- plate which is moved to the correct position by turning the screw heads in the hole 30 in the flange 17 of the housing. The door is then opened and the clamping screws 24 tightened up.
