Abstract

233,347. Pantoflicek, B. April 29, 1924, [Convention date]. Ordnance design; breech mechanism; muzzleloading.-The two parts 1, 2 of the barrel of a non-recoil gun firing a reaction mass rearwards are connected together by an eccentric screwed joint 12, 13, Fig. 2. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a gun having a concentric screwed joint sealed by an internal ring or liner. In a modification, in guns intended for firing downwards, the barrel is formed as a unit, Fig. 5 (Cancelled). In this construction, the gun is loaded from the top, a retaining pin 14 engaging the projectile. The rifling is so arranged that the turning forces produced by the projectile and reaction mass are balanced wholly or in part. The reaction mass may be dispensed with, the balancing action being provided by a closed barrel 28, Fig. 7 (Cancelled), which is slidably mounted in bearings 22. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
