125,817. Kaylor, J. M. June 12, 1918. Ordnance design.-Relates to guns for use with winged projectiles. According to the invention, the gun, shown in section in Fig. 5, has along the bottom of its bore 2 a longitudinal groove 31 to receive a stabilizing-fin on the projectile. The purpose of the groove is to ensure that when the shell is discharged the fin is in a vertical position and a pair of sustaining-wings, projected through the shell-body by springs, are horizontal.
