Purifying fats and fatty oils.-In deodorizing fats anc oils, the oil, preferably pre heated, is atomized by a jet of superheated steam through a pipe 4 into the upper one of a series of chambers 1, Steam and vapours are with. drawn through a conduit 5 connected to a vacuum pump. and t'he oil falls to the base of the chamber and down the inside of tubes 3 which pass through a steam chest 2. The oil is collected by a tray 7 and is atomized again by superheated steam into the next lower chamber 1, and so on through the series.
