Abstract

231,748. Kistler, W. Sept. 8, 1924. Compression-spoke wheels.-A wheel comprises tubular steel spokes 5 which fit within hollow bosses 2 on the hub 1, the bosses 2 being formed with holes 4 communicating with the interior of the hub and with tapered faces 3 to fit against tapered feet 6 of the spokes. The outer ends 7 of the spokes 5 are swelled out, and a heated steel felloe 8, of such size, when cool, as to compress the spokes, is slipped over the spoke ends, spigots 9 being then stamped out of the face of the felloe to engage the interior walls of the spoke ends 7.
