Compression-spoke wheels; tyres, non-elastic, and rims.-The wooden spokes 4 have tongues 5 passing through an inner circumferential metal baud 7 into a wooden felloe 9 which is wide compared with its short radial depth. An outer metal rim 11 is shrunk on, and metal thimbles 6 may surround the tongues 5. The grain of the wood in the felloe mav be transverse to the face of the wheel rim as shown, or the felloe may be formed of bent or shaped wood in the usual way. Dowels 10 may be used to fasten the several separate wooden pieces in the felloe.
