Railway locomotives, steam, turbine, of articulated construction. - In articulated locomotives of the type in which a boiler unit J is flexibly connected at or near each end to a power driven unit A carrying water or fuel tanks or condensers C, one or both units carry and are actuated by turbines B. Turbines or reciprocating engines, or both, may be added to each unit. One or both units may be flexibly connected to additional power-driven units or groups of wheels L, which may be driven by turbines or reciprocating engines or both, and these additional units may be provided with supplementary tanks, &c. The boiler unit may also carry tanks. The power may be transmitted to the wheels by mechanical gearing, and in the case of the additional units, remote-controlled power generators or converters may be used. Any group of wheels may be arranged for use with rack rails or centre rails.
