Electromechanical apparatus, arrangement of; motive power, applications of. -A locomotive fitted with an electromechanical propelling sys. tem comprises two articulated trucks, the front truck Fig. 1, carrying a boiler E beneath which is a turbine or other engine A and dynamo B with their axes arranged longitudinally; an auxiliary turbine Y and generator Z are provided for exciting the field of the dynamo B and for auxiliary motors. The tender Fig. 2 is fitted with a condenser G of the kind described in Specification 5223/15, [Class 32, Distilling &c.], and fan H driven by a motor I. The exhaust passes to the condenser through a pipe L fitted with spherically articulated and sliding joints M. Each truck is provided with three coupled c.riving axles driven from a pair of motors Q through reduction gearing R, S.
