Railway locomotives, steam, turbine, of articulated construction; tanks.-An articulated locomotive, of the type wherein the supporting frame of the boiler unit A is flexiblv connected at or near each end beyond the boiler to a power-driven unit B carrying water or fuel tanks G or condensers, has on one or both power units one or more additional power-driven units or groups of wheels C flexibly connected to the unit. The tank of the unit may extend over the additional wheels and be flexibly connected to them, or they may carry a separate tank. The tanks may be narrowed at their outer ends to reduce overhang on curves, while tanks may be placed on the boiler unit. Any wheel group may engage rack rails or centre rails. The additional wheels may be driven by turbines or reciprocating engines or both, and remote-control power generators or converters may be used. The cylinders may be high-pressure or compound.
