Abstract
364,606. Locomotives. SKODA WORKS, PLZEN, 37A, Jungmannova, Prague. July 3, 1930, No. 20236. Convention date, July 4, 1929. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 79 (i).] In an articulated steam locomotive having two driven bogies the adhesion weights of the front and rear bogies are utilized to different extents; thus, the bogies may have steam engines of equal capacity but one bogie may have a larger number of coupled axles than the other, or the bogies may have an equal number of coupled bogies but one engine may be more powerful than the other. In the construction shown the main frame 4 carrying the boiler 1, cab 2, and tender 3 is supported on driving bogies 6, 7. The fuel and water are mainly supported by the rear bogie 7 and it is arranged that the power of this bogie corresponds only to the minimum loading due to the water and fuel, while the front bogie, the load on which does not vary appreciably, is of greater power, e.g. the engine of the front bogie may have three cylinders and the rear engine only two. A water tank 5 may be carried under the cab 2. The steam supply to the two bogies may be independently cut off or controlled.
