Abstract

230,372. Burns, J. H. Sept. 22, 1924. Metallic spring bodies and cores. - An outer metal ring 1, semi-circular in cross-section, overlaps a similar ring 2 which is formed with a split 6 and is bolted to a detachable rim by a coupling plate 7a, or to a flanged rim. The ring 1 is built up of sections, tongues 8 and slots 10 on the adjacent sections interfitting, the tongues being formed with ears 9 to prevent them drawing out of the slots. A short cylinder 3, attached at the centre of each section of the ring 1, telescopes a similar cylinder 4 carried on the member 2, a spiral spring 5 being fitted within the cylinders. In a modification, bow springs are attached at their centres to the members 1, 2 and are connected together at their ends by short compression springs.
