Telescopic tables. - A table with a fixed frame and legs has the top in two pieces adapted to be pulled apart to reveal an extension leaf or leaves resting below them carrying wedge pieces and adapted to be raised by the subsequent displacement of a slide carrying corresponding wedge pieces. When the table top end 3 is drawn out, runners 32<1> thereon pass through the fixed frame 6 of the table, and when a pin 12 on the runner 32<1> engages the end 18 of a slot 13 in the slide 10', this slide carrying wedges 9, 9' moves with it. When the edge 15 of the top end 3' has passed the edge 16 of the extension leaf 7, the slide is pulled by hand an additional distance such that its wedges engage with the wedges 8, 8<1> on the underside of the leaf 7 and raise this level with the table top end, which may then be pushed in slightly to engage therewith by dowels or a tongue and groove junction. The leaf 7 is detachable and is vertically guided by pins 30 engaging holes 31 in the frame. An additional leaf 7<1> may be raised after withdrawal of the table top end 4 carrying runners 39<1> similarly connected with slides 33<1> carrying wedges 36'. The runners 32<1>, 39<1> have a sliding dovetailed connection with a longitudinal guide-bar 5 attached to the frame. The corresponding slides and runners on opposite sides of the table are connected by cross-bars, and stops 19 are fixed on the runners.
