Folding tables.-In a folding table &c. of the kind with legs at each end adapted to fold under the table &c. top the stays B<1> which retain the legs A<1> in the erect position consist each of two inclined paits b<2>, b<4> connected by a straight part b, forming an approximately U-shaped device pivoted between the legs A<1>. The part b moves over a diagonally. arranged guide C on the underside of the table top, and engages with a catch E which, as shown in Fig. 4, consists of strip metal with a recess e' for receiving the part b of the stay B<1>. It is forced down by a spring F, and released by means of a finger piece E. In a modification, Fig. 6, the catch consists of a hook-like latch forced up by a spring so as to retain the part b, which may be released by pressing on the tail g<1>.
