[Class 52 (iii)] In extending tables of the type in which the extensible leaves comprise hinged sections e, f, mounted on runners d which are elevated during the extension, the normally upper section f being foldable inwardly when the leaf is in the extended position and supported upon the runners level with the remaining portion of the table whether it be in the extended or unextended position, the under side of the inner portion of each runner is provided with a curved or cam-shaped surface k which engages with a block or cam member l to raise the leaves to the required level. The sections e are fixed to the runners d and the sections f are hinged to the sections e at g. To extend the table the sections e, f, are raised to release a stop g<3> and drawn outwards, the outer ends of the runners moving upwardly due to a sloping underface g<1>, while the inner ends of the runners can drop to permit projections h<2> on the upper surfaces of the runners to clear a fixed transverse board h. Further outward movement causes the cam-shaped surfaces k to raise the runners at their inner ends and in the fully extended position projections j at the inner ends of the runners engage between the board h and the blocks l to prevent vertical movement. A stop g<2> limits the outward movement. In the retracted position the board h fits into cut-away portions h<1> of the runners. In a modification an intermediate leaf is located across the middle of the table between the two extensible leaves and the board h omitted, the top surface of the runners being straight and the projections j at the inner ends taking between the intermediate leaf and a transverse rail in the extended position.
