Abstract

457,949. Fiddle racks for tables &c. WARING & GILLOW (1932), Ltd., and HUGHES, C. E., 164, Oxford Street, London. Oct. 22, 1935, No. 29086. [Class 52 (iii)] A fiddle rail for tables, sideboards, &c. is provided at its ends with small metal strips in which are slots 5, engaging with pivot pins 4 on brackets at the ends of the edge of the table. Between these strips is fitted the fiddle rail, which normally hangs as shown beneath the edge of the table 2. To put the rail into place, it is turned through 180 degrees on its pivots 4, the groove 1 permitting this movement. When the rail has been so turned, it falls, the slotted parts 5 moving down upon the pivots 4, and remains projecting slightly above the top of the table edge. An abutment 12 prevents the rail from lifting when it is not in use. A ball catch may be fitted to keep the rail either raised or lowered.
