Abstract

229,422. Wilson, W. G. Dec. 3, 1923. Actuating - mechanism; thermally-actuated valves.-A weightoperating mechanism of the kind employing- a pivoted weighted lever is arranged so that after actuating the apparatus the weighted element is automatically disconnected from the operated apparatus. The Figure shows the device applied to the actuation of a valve. The weighted lever 5 is pivoted at 8 and is provided with a pin 6 adapted to engage a bifurcated lever 3 on the valve-actuating spindle 2. The lever is raised by a handle 13 and held in that position by a fusible link 11 or other device. In a modification a single arm is substituted for the bifurcated lever. In a further modification, meshing toothed segments are employed, the concave and convex surfaces on the segments coming into operation after the toothed parts separate to hold the valve in its final position.
