Drying materials in long lengths.-Apparatus for drying wool &c. after treatment in a back washing machine A comprises a drying-chamber 3 containing a series of rotary perforate cylinders over which the wool is conveyed and subjected to the action of hot air. The air is forced by fans 6, 6<a>, 6<b> over heating-tubes 14 into the interior of the cylinders and withdrawn through the perforate roof 3b to be recirculated. The fan 6b has outlets to the chimney 10 and the heating-chamber 5. Cold air is drawn into the drying-chamber through adjustable openings. The cylinders are formed with deflectors 11 for directing the air evenly through the wool passing around the cylinders.
