Abstract

339,907. Malard, P. April 29, 1929, [Convention date]. Endless-band conveyers, fibrous &c. material carried on; reciprocating and oscillating conveyers coacting with fixed surfaces.-Relates to apparatus for drying wool &c., in which the drying air has a longitudinal helical movement over a vertical series of pervious tables (endless-bands, intermeshing grids &c.) 1, 2, 3 over which the wool &c. passes, successively in. opposite directions, from A to B, and consists in providing partitions 4, 5, 6 dividing the apparatus into compartments 7 - - 10 each containing portions only of the tables. A counter-current effect is thus obtained, whereby the drier air acts on the drier wool. The air enters at 11 and under the influence of fans 13, 14 is circulated helically through the lateral chamber 12 steam-heated at 12a, and through the wool in compartment 10, then passing through an inclined opening (not shown) into the lateral heating-chamber of compartment 9 where it is similarly circulated, thence by a longitudinal duct (not shown) to the left-hand end of the heating chamber 23 of compartment 8, and after similar circulation through compartment 8, and through compartment 7, it escapes at 30.
