Reservoir pens.-In fountain pens of the kind having an overflow reservoir 16 provided with a cover 18 and situated beneath the nib, an opening 19 is formed in the cover to permit the passage of ink into and out of the overflow reservoir, and a slot 17 is formed in the reservoir itself for the passage or air. The overflow reservoir 16 is attached to, or formed integral with, a plug 13 fitting friction-tight in the nozzle 11 of the pen and carrying the nib 14. the reservoir cover 18, and the feed-bar 21. The cover is held in position by pins, and is cemented at the sides to the reservoir 16 to prevent leakage of ink. The. air vent 17, Fig. 1, communicates with the interior of the barrel 10 through an opening 23 in the plug 13. In order to prevent the filling of the overflow reservoir and the soiling of the nozzle when using a. self-filling device, the nozzle and associated parts are detachable and the barrel 10 is provided with a tapering extension 25, which is held in position by a screw and extends into the nozzle 11 as far as the plug 13, to establish communication between the barrel, the opening 23, and the feed-bar. The pen may be filled by means of a collapsable sac 29 attached to the rear end of the extension 25 and operable by a lever 31 pivoted in a metal lining in a slot in the barrel, or by means of a piston, or by suction by the mouth at an opening at the rear end of the barrel.
