Turning-gear. - In an electric starter comprising a pinion c moved axially by a nut d driven by the starting motor and in engagement with the screw-threaded shaft b of the pinion, a disc e between the pinion and the screw-threads prevents clogging of the screw-threads by dirt or particles of metal broken from the pinion teeth, the disc not forming part of the actual transmission gear. As shown, the disc e is carried by the shaft b and is cushioned on its return movement by a dished spring f on the motor casing.
