Locks, revolving-barrel; attaching and cases for; night-latches; latches, sliding. - A sliding latch bolt b is operated by a handle m<1> and follower l from the inside of a door, and by a follower wand connector-bar y carried by a rotating part 8 governed by tumblers 11 and operated by a rotating bar, from the outside. The latch bolt b is prevented from actuation from the inside by a stop p<1> carried by a plate p slid into position by a handle o and held by spring plungers q engaging recesses p<2>. The part 8 is mounted in a disc 6 carried by the shallow casing 2 formed with sharp tongues 5 which bite into the woodwork to prevent release by wrenching the casing round. The rotating part 8 carries an arm 9 on which is a stud 10 co-operating with arcurate slots 14 in the tumblers 11 pivoted on the casing at 12. When the key is inserted and turned, it positions the tumblers 11 for the reception of the stud 10 on the arm 9 which is also engaged and turned by the key to rotate the disc 8 and so rotate the boss 1 to rotate the connector bar y and operate the latch. The casing comprises a part s screwed to the door and a part a secured at one end to the part s by a pin u and at the other by screws passing through lugs in both parts into the edge of the door, so as to be inaccessible when the door is closed.
