Thermionic detectors, amplifiers, and generators. -In a detector circuit for a four-electrode valve having two grids, the outer grid 4 is connected to the heating-circuit of the cathode 2 through a tuned circuit comprising a variable condenser 9 and an inductance 8 coupled with an inductance 11 in the aerial circuit and is maintained at a positive potential with respect to the negative end of the cathode: or the grid mav be connected with the aerial directly or through an Oudin circuit. The inner grid 3 is connected through an inductance 15, coupled with one of the inductances 8, 11, and a telephone or other receiver 14, with the positive terminal of the battery 13 which is connected directly with the anode 5. The arrangement may be used for autodyne reception. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes an amplifier in which the input circuit is connected between the outer grid and the filament either through a transformer or through a capacity with a high resistance between the grid and the filament. The inner grid is connected to the positive terminal or to an intermediate point of the high-tension battery, and the anode is connected to that battery through a receiver. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
