Heating by direct contact of steam; hot-water storage apparatus. - In apparatus of the kind described in the parent Specification, a boiler is provided with a number of high-pressure storage vessels, each of which is brought into or placed out of operation as desired. The storage vessels v<1>, v<2>, v<3> may be placed in turn, by the operation of valves f, d, into communication with the steam and water spaces of a boiler K. Water is sup. plied to the boiler and to the storage vessels through a three-way cock k. Steam is discharged from the storage vessels through cut-off valves t, and is led off for use through a separator w. The boiler steam passes through a superheater l before entering the separator. The valves in the storage vessel connections may be operated by hand or by automatic devices actuated in accordance with the boiler pressure and the pressure in the vessels.
