Abstract

222,353. Link, C. E. Dec. 17, 1923. Air-pressure sprayers.-Apparatus for spraying decarbonizing liquids into the cylinders of internal-combustion engines comprises a pump, 1, Fig. 2, into which passes a tube 5 which is bent at 8 and acts as a retainer to hold liquid such as denatured alcohol in the lower part of the pump cylinder but permitting excess to escape. A small hole is formed at 6 so that on operating the pump a small quantity of liquid mixes with the air and is ejected as a spray. The tube has connected to it a nozzle G bent so that when inserted through the sparking plug opening of an internal-combustion engine it will direct the spray towards the cylinder. Fig. 3 shows an attachment for use when the sparking plug hole is not easily accessible which comprises a body 12 having a chamber 13 through which passes a tube 14 provided with slots and perforations 16 and held in place by means of gland nuts 15, a handle 19 being provided by which the nozzle may be rotated.
