Abstract

Piston valves; closure members.-In a bib-cock comprising a hollow perforated piston valve sliding in a tapered cone or hat joint, the cone 6 is secured on its seat by a perforated skirt 7 on the cover 8 carrying the screwed spindle 11. The flexible lip of the cone seating ensures a tight closure. The bottom wall 13a of the central recess is situated at a lower level than the inlet passage 2 thereby forming a well in which grit &c. tends to collect.
