Building blocks, special shapes of.- Walls are built of cubical blocks 10 formed as multiples of square unit cells which are in effect spaced apart by the thickness of a mortar joint but are integrally connected together by wall and web portions. The apertures in the blocks form horizontal channels which are closed at the ends by similar blocks laid with the apertures vertical. Adjacent courses break joint, and' the webs are aligned above and below. Fig. 11 shows a wall of one and a half blocks in thickness, and strengthened by a pilaster of blocks laid with the apertures vertical and closed by small blocks 15. Quarter blocks or single cell units are used where necessary. Walls of other thicknesses may be similarly formed.
