Abstract

218,672. Pein. E. J. von. July 5, 1923, [Convention date]. Ink-ribbon mechanism; line-spacing mechanism.-Feed-mechanism for ink-ribbons or paper strips employed in cash registers comprises a feed-device for imparting a constant feed, and a second feed-device, co-operating with the projecting end of a bar or rod secured over a seam in the ribbon or strip, for imparting additional feed under certain conditions; for instance as applied to endless ink-ribbons, the second feeddevice may be arranged to prevent the seam from coming to rest at the printing-line. An endless ink-ribbon 50 is fed by means of a pawl 61 which co-operates with a ratchet-wheel 60 and is carried by a bell-crank 63 operated by a cam 65. For imparting an additional feed when the seam approaches the impression-hammer 24 or 25, there is provided a reciprocating member 71 formed with projections 171 adapted to engage a metal bar 70 secured over the seam. The. member 71 is connected to a bell-crank 72 operated by a cam 75.
