Abstract

218,156. Weir, Ltd., G. & J., and Weir, J. G. Sept. 10, 1923. Surface condensers. -In surface condensers having a condensate outlet w at the bottom and an air outlet a near the top, arranged below a downwardlysloping baffle b, as described in Specification 6817/91, a passage f, free from tubes &c. is arranged at the side of the condenser opposite to the air outlet and extends across the bottom, so that the condensate falling from the tubes is met and heated by uncondensed steam. The condensation of the steam and the cooling of the air is completed by the tubes t below the baffle b. The cooling water passes first through the tubes t and then through the tubes t<1> above the baffle.
