Abstract
222,513. Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Bell, G.). Sept. 28, 1923, [Convention date]. Surface condensers; condenser systems.-In a surface condenser. particularlv one of the radial-flow type, and provided with a separate chamber for cooling air &c. and in which the condensate from the aircooling chamber passes to the condensate - pump through a water seal, the air-cooling chamber 21 is situated in the bottom of the condensing-chamber and is separated therefrom by side plates 24, 25 forming inlet passages and a top plate 29 carrying a conduit 31 for escape of air. A baffle 36 prevents condensate from the upper tubes of the main condenser entering the passages between the plates 24, 25. Condensate from the main condenser passes by passages 39 to a collecting chamber 38 connected to the condensate-pump. Condensate from the chamber 21 passes by a conduit 42 to a cup 41 forming a liquid seal and thence to the chamber 38. A small vent-hole may be provided between the chambers 21 and 38.
