533,755. Surface condensers. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO. Ltd. Nov 22, 1939, No. 30558. Convention date, Nov. 23, 1938. [Class 64 (iii)] In a water-cooled surface condenser, the water tube banks 13, 14 are arranged within the drum 10 to form a wedge-shaped passage 17 extending between the steam inlet and non-condensable vapour outlets 16 which are located near the water inlet header 11. Baffle-plates 18, 19, 21 are arranged transversely of the tubes, and sloping baffles 24 are arranged beneath the tubes to drain condensate therefrom into the collecting chamber 25. The weight of the tubes is carried mainly by supports 23. ,
