Abstract

Endless-track vehicles.-In a wheeled vehicle convertible into a vehicle wholly or partly of the self-laying track type by replacing the wheels on one or more axles by self-contained' endless-track units, the road wheel is replaced by a single or twin wheel, of substantially the same diameter, normally transmitting the weight and drive to the track. A twin-tyred wheel a, b is mounted on a hub which carries one or two beams c, a sprocket wheel h, and a brake drum m. The beams c carry at their outer ends rollers e, the rear roller having a sprocket i coupled by a chain with the wheel h. The front roller is preferably under the action of a spring f. A flange l may be fitted to the wheels and rollers to locate the track, which may have projections engaging a toothed driving rim or flange on the rear roller, while the rim may be slidably mounted on a drum or on studs. The beam c may be a laminated spring, and the brake drum may be attached to the rear roller.
