Abstract

263,212. Hawley, T. A. G. Aug. 27, 1925. Wheels, arrangement of. - A vehicle is provided at each side between a front wheel 5 and a rear driving wheel or endless-track 2 with an auxiliarv rotatable wheel 6 which is normally out of contact with the ground but maintains ground clearance for some part of the vehicle when the normal ground bearing surfaces 2, 5 do not do so, the auxiliary wheels being detachable and interchangeable with the normal road wheels. The auxiliary wheels 6 are supported on an auxiliary or dummy axle 7 which may serve as a spare front axle. In a modification, auxiliary short endless tracks may be used instead of the wheels 6, the roller trucks of these tracks being interchangeable with the trucks of the main endless tracks.
