Abstract

216,384. Sellman, D. L. July 17, 1923. Radial-flow unbladed type; working-fluid supply.-In a turbine of the Barker's mill type a number of explosion chambers in the rotor register alternately with expansion chambers 21 and exhaust chambers 22 in the stator, the expansion and exhaust chambers being connected in pairs by passages 23. The exhaust 17 are connected to a suction fan 20 through a manifold 19. The explosive mixture is supplied from a compressor 25 in series with a compressor-fan 29 and connected to a fuel-supply pipe 32. The intake and exhaust manifolds communicate with ports formed in sealing rings 43, 44 engaging grooves in the rotor.
