Seat and sofa adjustments.- In an adjustable chair of the kind described in the parent Specification, the back A is hinged to the seat framing C and is secured in adjusted positions by the engagement of a rack-bar J, pivoted to the back, with a fixed stop K to an opening E in the arm D through which the box J passes as shown. The back is normally pulled into the upright position by a spring or springs F, the rack-teeth and stop K being shaped to prevent movement in both directions, or as shown in the backward direction only.
