Abstract

206,571. Shorter, F. C. Aug. 5, 1922. Grips, friction. - A chair having an intercon. nected pivoted back and leg rest is held in adjusted position by a slotted guide member 9 centrally pivoted to the rear edge of the seat 1 and containing a clutch plate 10, both guide and clutch plate having a central hole through which slides a bar 8 pivoted to the seat back 3. The bar is thus free to move in an upward direction but is prevented from moving down. wards by the jamming of the clutch plate, to lower the back the slotted guide member is raised to free the bar.
