Abstract

215,999. Bethenod, J., and Baur, W. June 27,1923. Valve gear.-For a cylinder cover, in which the valves are arranged in pockets at one side and worked by tappet rods below them, is substituted a cover with the axes of the valves in a plane transverse, to the vertical plane containing the axis of the crank shaft. By this means larger valves may be employed, and one of them may overlap the side of the cylinder. The valves are worked through overhead levers by extensions of the existing tappet rods which pass through holes 9 in the cover.
