Abstract
Materials for removing waxes, greases, and oils from silk, wool, cotton and other fibres are obtained by hydrolyzing sulphonated oils, fats, or waxes by boiling with water or dilute acids capable of introducing a hydroxy group or groups, and then neutralizing with a soluble alkali or alkali carbonate. In an example 100 lb. of sulphonated oil free from acid are boiled with 100-500 lb. of water until the hydrolyzed oil rises to the surface. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 1786/81, 12216/86, [Class 15, Bleaching, &c.], 14430/91, 24868/97, [Class 91, Oils &c.], 8245/07, 24837/08, and 17655/09.ALSO:Cleansing materials suitable for removing waxes, greases, and oils from silk, wool, cotton, and other fibres are obtained by hydrolyzing sulphonated oils, fats or waxes by boiling with water or dilute acids capable of introducing a hydroxy group or groups, and then neutralizing with a soluble alkali or alkali carbonate. In an example, 100 lb. of sulphonated oil free from acid are boiled with 100-500 lb. of water until the hydrolyzed oil rises to the surface. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 1786/81, and 12216/86, and 14430/91, [both in Class 15, Bleaching &c.], 24868/97, 8245/07, [Class 15, Bleaching &c.], 24837/08, and 17655/09.
