Abstract

213,291. Morse, S. H. Oct. 27, 1922. Continuous apparatus for washing, developing. and finishing.-In apparatus in which prints or films are carried in a sinuous course through liquid tanks by an endless conveying member some or all of the loops or folds have narrow endless bands to hold the films or prints in position on the conveying member. The apparatus may comprise several tanks one within the other. As shown, a print-conveying member 26 of metallic fabric passes round rollers 9 - - 18 in a water tank 6, the roller 9 being driven by mechanism 25. The roller 16 may be in a small tank 8 for holding chemicals and the roller 18 is adjustable. Within the loops 27, 29 of the band 26 narrow bands 30 are arranged to pass round one of the rollers 15, 17 and over a roller 31. The prints are introduced at the roller 13, and after passing through the tanks are delivered to an adjustable. table 33 having an endless band 34, tightening means 35, a. squeegee roller 36, and a directing roller 38. Jets 39. 40 of water ensure, smooth travel of the prints and V.shaped rings 37 on the end roller 31 assist in delivering the prints to the table 33. The water for use, at the jets 39, 40 is drawn from the tank 6 through a Siting 43. The rollers 31 may be positively driven and the rollers 15, 17 may be substituted by independent reliefs.
