Abstract

2 1 , 9 3 7 . Lake, H. H., [Leontieff, J.]. Oct. 27. Dyeing.-In jigger machines, in order that dyed fabric may pass immediately into a bath of water upon leaving the dye-vat, as is particularly necessary in the case of sulphur colours, such a bath i s combined with the jigger itself. The bath takes the form of a trough t, which may be heated, underneath the vat v. While being dyed, the fabric passes from the roll on one arm through the vat and on to another roll on the other arm, as usual. On finally leaving the vat, the fabric, after being squeezed between a pair of rollers a, b<1>, passes over guide-rollers r, through the trough t, and between jet pipes s, and is finally wound on a roller c after passing over a roller c' driven by a cross belt from the roller b<1>. When the device is used for cleaning or treating the fabric, after dyeing, with chromates, copper salts, &c., the trough t may be larger, as shown in dotted lines, so that liquid driven off from the roller c may fall back into the trough.
