Abstract

1,038,199. Treating fabric. SIR JAMES FARMER NORTON & CO. Ltd. Nov. 18, 1964 [Nov. 28, 1963], No. 47116/63. Heading D1L. In a dyer's jigger wherein fabric A is passed between draw rolls 8, 9 via a bath of dye 5, one of the draw rolls 8 is perforated so that after the dyeing wash liquor or other treating fluid may be supplied, e.g. by a pump 15, to the centre of the roll and passed outwardly through the perforations and the fabric. The roll 8 is preferably of stainless steel. Tension rolls 10 and curved, crease removing bars 11 are provided in the path of the fabric. The treating fluid from drum 8 passes into the vat 5 and a system may be provided to recirculate this fluid through the roll; this system also provides means to mix steam and water and supply them to the centre of the perforated roll. A device for controlling the rate of flow and temperature of the fluid may be provided. The perforated roll is driven at a slower speed during washing than during the dyeing operation. The fabric is carried by the roller 8 during the washing operation.
