Abstract

999, 028. Continuous dyeing processes; apparatus therefor. STANDFAST DYERS & PRINTERS Ltd. March 20, 1964 [March 20,1963], No. 12001/64. Headings D1B and D1L. Textile fabrics are dyed continuously by impregnating the fabric with dye liquor and passing it successively through a molten metal bath and a steam chamber. Preferably on leaving the metal bath there is a liquor: fabric ratio of 1.4: 1 and the steam temperature is somewhat higher than 100‹C. The dyes may be vat, direct, disperse or reactive dyes and may be used to dye fabrics of cotton or its blends with cellulose acetate. Figures 1, 2 and 3 illustrate three forms of suitable apparatus wherein the fabric 4 may be passed through a padder 5 and 6, possibly a drier 27, a developing liquor 12, a molten metal bath 2, a steamer 3 whose inlet is dipped below the molten metal or treating solution on the exit side and whose outlet is dipped below water or brine. In Fig. 3 the fabric is passed directly from the dye liquor 12 into the molten metal machine. Examples are given.
