Combined open fireplaces and cooking- stoves; ovens; trivets; dampers.-An oven a is shaped to fit within an open fire-place beneath the canopy and is removably supported on a vertically adjustable plate W. As shown in Fig. 1, the plate W rests on arms having downwardly projecting pins e, Fig. 8, adapted to engage in holes in the upper ends of rods F, these holes terminating in lateral openings H to prevent choking by cinders &c. The rods F are housed in channel-shaped guides b which are secured to the front grate bars by bolts L passing through slotted wings f and a slotted clamping plate h. The lower ends of the rods F carry handles 0 and are retained in any desired position of vertical adjustment by the engagement of laterally projecting pins P in one pair of a series of slots G formed in the flanges of the guides b. In the modification shown in Figs. 2 and 4, the plate W is supported on a bar c having forwardly projecting arms r, the rear edge of the plate carrying an arm V adapted to engage in a socket secured to the back of the grate. In a further modification,. the arm V is dispensed with and the members r continued rearwardly. The bar c has hooked ends adapted to be engaged in one of a number of holes. m formed in the sides of the grate and is provided at the centre with a depending leg p carrying a pin which takes into one of a series of holes formed in a bar q attached to the top grate bar.
