Abstract

Valves closing with rush of fluid. - A doubleway emergency valve is provided with an external bye-pass 18 controlled by a cock 19 to facilitate the re-opening of the valve. The double-faced valve member 5 is normally held in its midposition by a pair of springs 10 acting on a hand lever 6, mounted on a transverse shaft 7 which is coupled to the valve member by a forked lever 9. The hand lever is provided with a pointer 12 moving over a scale 13 and has a socket 17 to receive a locking bolt 16 adapted to be screwed into one or other of the lugs 14 to secure the valve in either of its closed positions.
