Abstract

212,192. Stevens, W. Sept. 6, 1923. Seat attachments.-A child's seat to be detachably secured to the frame tubes of a cycle comprises (1) an attachment and positioning member, Fig. 4, formed of upper and lower parts 1, 2 to be clamped by bolts 3 on the top frame tube 4 &c., and (2) a spring seat, Fig. 1, having a transverse strip or plate 7 formed with holes to fit over the bolt heads 3 and over a central stud 5 on the plate 1, the seat being locked in position by a lever 16. Two further holes near the ends of the strip 7 are slidably engaged by rods 11 passing through springs 13. The lower end of a third spring-carrying rod 15 slidably engaging the front of the seat 12 forms the pivot of the locking-lever 16, which is movable in a horizontal plane to cause a transverse slot at its free end to engage a reduced portion 6, Fig. 4, of the stud 5. The lever 16 is locked by a link 20 of hook form adapted to embrace the upper frame tube, its free end being then secured to the lever 16 by a bayonet joint &c. A back-rest 30 of spring rod is detachably secured in a channelled bracket 24 by its outurned ends springing through holes 28 therein. In the case of a lady's cycle, the attachment member is clamped to an adapting frame clipped to the cycle frame and formed of an horizontal carrier tube and a supporting-stay therefor.
