Abstract
211,606. Mooney, D. J. Dec. 4, 1922. Framework.-A girder, spar, longeron, or the like comprises upper and lower channel-section booms a, b with longitudinally-corrugated webs and separate connecting strips c, of channel section with parallel plane sides, running diagonally from boom to boom, their ends butting together at d, fitting within the channels of the booms, and being fastened by their sides to the sides of the booms by rivets e passing through distance tubes f. The edges of the booms may be turned outwards as shown at g, Fig. 3. The end edges o, Fig. 6, of the strips c may be shaped to fit the corrugations of the booms, and the strips may be corrugated longitudinally, the edges n being turned over to prevent their cutting into the booms. Fig. 7 shows a modification in which a strip c, slightly wider than the booms, has its ends k narrowed together to fit the booms. Fig. 8 shows a longitudinally corrugated strip c with corrugations m stamped in the ends to fit the corrugations of the booms, the strips butting together vertically along the edges m<1>.
